Full Description

Scissor lifts are a common piece of construction equipment on construction sites. One of the reasons they are so common is that they are easy to use and stable to work off of. With this piece of equipment being so common on construction sites is it important to check them prior to use. You may be asking yourself what is a scissor lift, how should I inspect one and what should I look for?

A scissor lift is a piece of equipment that includes a platform that moves up and down supporting a worker and a piece of equipment. A scissor lift typically is motorized with four wheels allowing it to traverse horizontally as well.

As with other piece of machinery, it is important to perform a preinspection prior to use. The reason this is important is because pieces can break down over time and become a danger to the operator or surrounding workers. An important part of the inspection process is using a checklist. This allows you to standardize what’s being inspected and helps ensure oversights aren’t made.

This scissor lift inspection template includes a large number of fields to help you inspect:

  • Condition of the equipment such as the wheels, guardrails and platform condition
  • Condition of the surrounding area
  • Condition of the operation of the lift

This template is in word document format meaning it is easy to manipulate and edit as required using all modern word processors (think Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Open Office, etc).

Of course – as with all of our templates, it is your responsibility to ensure fields and items meet all codes and laws associated with this work. This template is only intended as a guidance.
